Newborn babies, breastfeeding concerns and problems new parents face

The GPs and nurses are experienced in caring for all ages from newborns to toddlers to adolescents and beyond. They provide support to new parents with any issues you may have from breastfeeding, introducing solids, sleep issues and more. Psychologist Natalie Boulton has a special interest in helping parents navigate the perinatal period (pregnancy and beyond). It is a privilege to be part of the journey from pregnancy and seeing young patients grow up.

Kids vaccinations

Family Doctors Plus caters to the specific needs of children to reduce the stress some kids experience in visiting medical clinics. There is a dedicated kid’s waiting area and a fun, friendly kid’s vaccination room. Our nurturing nurses are a great source of support to both parents and children. We provide vaccinations for older children who may not want to have them done at school. We also provide other vaccines outside the Qld Immunisation Schedule-eg. Meningococcal B (Bexsero) and travel vaccines.

Healthy kids checks

The team offer healthy kids check in which they perform a comprehensive assessment of your child including hearing, speech and vision to ensure your child starts school with the best possible health. Allied health professionals who work with children and adolescents can provide you with added support when needed. For example, Kylie Walsh (Occupational Therapist) can help children with educational, gross or fine motor concerns.

Problems of childhood – eczema, allergies, sleeping, behavior

Contraception – Contraceptive Rod/Implant insertion/removal, Hormonal IUD insertion/removal

Most of the doctors providing sessions at Family Doctors Plus are experienced in all aspects of contraception. Many of the doctors have worked at Family Planning Queensland/True relationship clinics and can provide up-to-date information and advice regarding the best option for you. Pre pregnancy advice and pregnancy care

Most of the doctors have experience in caring for patients who are embarking on the pregnancy journey and provide shared antenatal care for women who are pregnant. They also focus on pre pregnancy planning, lifestyle advice and nutrition to optimize your health and the health of your baby. They can provide shared care together with the Mater Mothers’ and Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospitals.

Management of menopause

Menopause and perimenopause can be a challenging time for some women. An experienced doctor can guide you through this change of life with care and compassion, whilst providing up-to-date information on nutrition, exercise, hormone therapy and other forms of treatment if required. Dr Anne Nixon is experienced in the treatment of hormonal issues in both men and women and in the use of biodentical compounds.

PCOS or Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Many of the doctors are experienced in helping women with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and the associated symptoms of weight gain, acne, increased hair, irregular periods and infertility. PCOS is a common problem that is underdiagnosed and these doctors are passionate about helping diagnose and treat any concerns you may have to do with your periods or hormones.

Cervical Screening

Most of the doctors  perform cervical screening tests (pap smears). They keep up-to-date with the latest screening guidelines and the management of abnormal results. Please check out the bios or ask reception for details.

Men’s and Women’s Health Assessment

At Family Doctors Plus the doctors focus on empowering you to optimise your health and wellbeing. Skin Cancer Screening and Skin Cancer Excisions

Many of the doctors perform skin cancer checks and are experienced in removal of skin lesions. Dr Maria Boulton,  Dr Craig Schmeider and Dr Emma Morgan have also worked in skin cancer clinics. The clinic’s state of the art treatment room is equipped for minor procedures such as mole removal and suturing of lacerations. Weight management

The doctors work closely with allied health professionals including a dietitian and an exercise physiologist to provide you with support and a tailored management plan for weight loss. Your doctor will discuss all the options available for weight loss and help you choose the right path for long term results. Dr Tarn Montagu has a special interest in this area and offers tailored appointments for those seeking support with their weight.

Immunisations for well people

The team believe in being proactive about keeping you well. Providing vaccinations such as influenza vaccines, whooping cough vaccines, shingle vaccines and routine boosters is an important part of the approach to preventative medicine. You can access a wide range of vaccines on site including travel, influenza, Pfizer COVID, Shingles, Q Fever and Yellow Fever vaccines. Some vaccines may need to be pre-ordered. Many of the doctors provide a complete travel medicine service. They can discuss a personalised travel medicine prescription for you and your family. The clinic is registered to stock the full range of travel vaccines including Yellow Fever vaccines (some may need to be pre-ordered) . GPs are experienced in diagnosing and treating a variety of mental health concerns. People are more likely to see a GP for support with mental health concerns. GPs can also diagnose and manage mental health problems affecting children and adolescents. They have a wide network of local psychologists and psychiatrists they work with to improve your wellbeing and reduce the risk of recurrence.

The team can design bespoke programs for your workplace. The team includes doctors and allied health professionals who specialise in occupational health and return to work services.

  • Pathology on site – QML pathology have a clinic on site that is open 5 days a week for your convenience.
  • Emergency, sports injuries and minor trauma care-including lacerations and dressings – The doctors and nurses can manage grazes, wound infections and minor trauma such as cuts. Our physiotherapist is experienced in the management of sports injuries.
