Perimenopause & Menopause Clinic
Whole-person, evidence-based support
Perimenopause and menopause are natural life stages, but the experience is different for every woman. At Family Doctors Plus, the team take a whole-person approach that blends lifestyle strategies, hormonal and non-hormonal treatments (as appropriate), and a strong focus on prevention to help you feel your best now and long term. As GPs, we can also follow up on other health concerns that commonly arise at this time, including weight management, bone health (osteoporosis risk) and cardiovascular health—ensuring your care remains coordinated and holistic.
Our approach
Your care is tailored to your symptoms, health history and goals. We take the time to discuss evidence-based treatment options clearly, answer your questions, and ensure preventive health is front and centre. This may include breast, cervical and bowel screening, bone health checks and cardiovascular risk assessment.
You’ll also have access to our broader team, including physiotherapy support to help improve bone density, muscle composition and functional strength. Physiotherapist Shannan Kamp works closely with women at this stage of life, providing safe and targeted programs to support overall wellbeing.
What to expect
We ask that you book two initial appointments, each 30 minutes long and 2–4 weeks apart. This allows time for a thorough assessment and follow-up.
In your first appointment, your doctor will take a comprehensive history, discuss your symptoms, review which preventive health screenings you may be due for, and talk through menopause and perimenopause in detail. Please note that medication may not be prescribed at this visit, as further information or investigations (such as screening results, blood tests, bone density scans or blood pressure reviews) may be needed first.
Your second appointment will be used to review results, confirm your care plan, and start or adjust treatment as needed. Additional appointments may be recommended depending on your circumstances or any other issues that may arise.
How to prepare
Before your first appointment, it’s helpful to:
- Bring a list of current medications and supplements.
- Note your main symptoms and any changes to your menstrual cycle.
- Check the dates and results of your most recent screening tests (mammogram, cervical screening, bowel screening).
- Bring your symptom tracker or diary if you use one. You can download a Symptom Score Sheet here: Download
Fees
Each 30-minute initial appointment is $250, with an out-of-pocket cost (after Medicare rebate) of approximately $148.10–$165.10, depending on your rebate eligibility.
