What can you do to reduce your risk of becoming infected with coronavirus:

1) Careful and frequent hand washing (hand sanitisers are ok if you are out and about). Remember that surfaces may be contaminated (eg door handles, lift buttons, light switches).

2) Avoid touching your face.

3) Follow cough etiquette (either cough into a tissue and dispose of it or cough into your elbow). Wash your hands.

4) Get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy diet.

5) Social distancing particularly for people over the age of 60, especially if you have a chronic disease. Do not shake hands or share cups. Stay 1.5m away from other people.

The Prime Minister announced on 15/3/2020

1) Self isolation for 14 days to all travellers coming into Australia effective midnight tonight. (In QLD the Premier announced on 15/3/2020 that fines of up to $13,000 apply for non compliance)

2) Banning of non essential static mass gatherings of 500 people or more (at this stage this does not include schools or public transport).

3) Social distancing as per the AHPPC/Australian Health Protection Principal Committee. We will share this information on another post.

4)They will announce restrictions to visits to aged care facilities in a few days.

Please stay home if you have respiratory symptoms or other symptoms. Call your doctor for advice prior to going to their clinic. Your doctor will discuss whether you need to be tested and how to get tested. There are very specific testing criteria in Qld.
